Printable Puzzles for Adults, in Large Print

Large Print Puzzle Club makes printable puzzles for adults in five types: word searches, sudoku, mazes, word scrambles and number puzzles. Every puzzle is a full US Letter page in large, bold print, black on white, delivered as a PDF you print at home. There's a free sampler with 8 puzzles to try, a one-time gift pack of 24 puzzles for $12 (no subscription), and the $9 monthly club: 56 puzzles today for new members, then a new 32-puzzle pack each month. Every puzzle set in 18-point type or larger, with new themes every month.

The five puzzle types

Each one has its own page with how to play, tips and printing advice.

Word search

Find 10 themed words hidden in a 12 × 12 grid of bold letters. Words run across, up, down or diagonally, forward or backward. Every monthly pack has 10, each on a different everyday theme. More: large print word search

Sudoku

Fill a 9 × 9 grid so every row, column and 3 × 3 box holds the numbers 1 to 9 once. Our sudoku are easy and medium, with big numbers in roomy boxes, and every one is checked to have exactly one solution. Every monthly pack has 8 (4 easy, 4 medium). Word scramble

What every page has in common

  • Large print. Letters and numbers in puzzle grids are at least 24 point. Instructions are at least 18 point.
  • One puzzle per page, with a title and a few lines of plain instructions.
  • Black on white, with no shading or images, so it prints clearly in black and white.
  • A clear typeface: Atkinson Hyperlegible, designed for clear, easy reading.
  • Answers at the back of every pack.
  • No outside knowledge needed. There are no crosswords and no trivia, so you never need to know a fact to finish a puzzle.

Checked by software before you get it

Our own software builds every puzzle, and a separate checking program tests it before a pack goes out:

  • each sudoku has exactly one solution
  • every listed word really is in its word search
  • every maze has exactly one path from start to finish
  • every scramble and number puzzle answer is worked out again from the puzzle itself
  • every word search grid is scanned for rude words in all eight directions

Choosing puzzles you'll enjoy

  • For a gentle start, try word searches and mazes. They need no rules beyond "find" and "trace."
  • If you like numbers, sudoku and the number puzzles give you logic and simple arithmetic.
  • If you like words, word scrambles are a quick change of pace from word searches.
  • For variety, a monthly pack mixes all five, so you can pick whatever suits your mood.

How to print large-print puzzles well

  1. Use US Letter paper (8.5 × 11 inches). Everyday 20 lb copy paper works. 24 lb paper is a bit sturdier and lets less pencil show through.
  2. Print at 100%. In the print window, choose Actual size or 100%. Shrinking the page shrinks the print.
  3. On A4 paper, choose Fit to page. It will print a little smaller.
  4. Pick "Normal" quality, not "Draft," so the letters stay solid black.
  5. Print only what you want. Type page numbers into the "Pages" box, such as 2-5. The answer key is at the back, so you can leave it out and print it later.
  6. Use a clipboard if you like to puzzle in an armchair. It gives a firm surface for a pencil.

You can print any page as often as you like for yourself and your household.

Relaxed to moderate. Sudoku come in easy and medium. Word searches have 10 words in a 12 × 12 grid. The number puzzles use simple arithmetic.

Do I need any special equipment?
